Young AmeriTowne On the Road

Young Americans Center for Financial Education is proud to present an expansion of Young AmeriTowne, our unique “hands-on” lesson in free enterprise that introduces young people ages 10 to 12 to the basic principles of our economic system. Students have the opportunity to run their own town for a 4-hour long session after receiving preliminary instruction in the classroom.

The 31-lesson Young AmeriTowne curriculum covers concepts such as the free enterprise system, banking, investing, job readiness, philanthropy, and much more. This dynamic curriculum fulfills current Personal Financial Literacy standards, as well as other many social studies, mathematics, and reading standards.

While first piloted as a summer camp in 1990, today Young AmeriTowne is an established curriculum in more than 270 schools in 23 Colorado counties. Current facilities in Denver, Lakewood, and Wray reach close to 24,000 fifth graders annually, an estimated 36% of all Colorado 10-year-olds.

Reaching more Colorado students

After nearly 25 years, we are proud to announce our flagship program will be reaching even more students throughout the state via a smaller, mobile setup.

Students will have a similar experience to the one at our current locations.

Young AmeriTowne On the Road is a portable, interactive built environment that replicates the current awe-inspiring experience. Catering to classes of 25-50 students, the new setup is ideal for connecting with smaller schools and those in rural settings that have found it challenging to reach our physical locations. Combined with the new AmeriTowne Cloud, a cloud-based operating system for financial transactions and community interaction, Young AmeriTowne On the Road can be setup anywhere with a wireless hotspot to serve dozens of new communities and thousands of students each year.

Young Americans will pilot Young AmeriTowne On the Road starting in October in Denver, with planned visits to Pueblo and Durango during the 2014-2015 school year.

Join us on Tuesday, August 12th as we unveil the Young AmeriTowne On the Road setup at our Leadership Luncheon. Find details and ticket information for the event here.
