On the first two Saturdays of December, Young Americans Center for Financial Education hosted over 100 businesses at our Denver and Belmar locations. These youth-owned and operated businesses ranged from home baked goods to marshmallow slingshots. Returning and first-time sellers showed great promise and excitement in selling their products to eager shoppers.

Believe, a Denver-based youth business.

New business owner Lily Blessings of Lily’s Little & Special Buddies almost sold out of her beautifully created and stitched handmade dolls. Lily was recently featured on 9News for her inspirational founding of her business. We were also joined by 2016 Spotlight on YouthBiz Stars finalists Nic Ansuini of Wild Wood Pens, Sophie, Chloe, & Lily Warren of Sweet Bee Sisters and Sam & Max Craig of SMax Sticks. Sam & Max Craig not only sold their wonderful handmade juggling sticks, but they also showed their customers the products used in making the sticks and gave their customers a try at juggling. It was a fun sight to see. Four businesses from our afterschool YouthBiz program Super Candle, Urban Design Create, Mysterious Charms, and Joyful bubbles wowed shoppers with their exceptional products and impressive business pitches.

In Belmar, business was booming! Andwele Gilbert owner of Lil’Daddy’s Stuffed Brownies sold out of all of his deliciously made stuffed brownies. Shoppers and staff alike couldn’t get enough of them. Here, we were joined by 2016 Spotlight on YouthBiz Stars winners Hannah Isenhart of Hannah’s Greeting Cards and Kayla Wollins of Cards for Caring, both selling their uniquely made greeting cards perfect for the holidays.

Mark your calendars for Saturday, April 29, 2017 for the 2017 Spring Marketplace which will take place from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm at our Denver headquarters. Registration will open in February.
