Brigid McNamara, Youth Advisory Board Co-Chair, emceed the Spotlight on YouthBiz Stars gala last fall along with fellow Co-Chair AJ Hammerstein.

Brigid McNamara, a Junior at George Washington High School, has an impressive resume.  She’s first in her class, and she’s a member of her school’s Varsity Golf Team, National Honors Society, and Speech and Debate Team.  She is a founder and president of the Bye Bye Bully Club, and she’s a member of the Federal Reserve Bank Board.  But what really stands out about Brigid is her ability to lead a group and be an exceptional Co-Chair to this year’s Youth Advisory Board.

Brigid has been involved with Young Americans Center for Financial Education for as long as she can remember.  In addition to opening a savings account, she participated in numerous summer camps, she did Young AmeriTowne and International Towne, and she even sold her “Duct Tape Creations” at the YouthBiz Marketplace.

Her first experience on the Youth Advisory Board two years ago encouraged Brigid to apply again as Co-Chair.  “Having the chance to serve on a Board at such a young age is a really unique experience,” notes Brigid,  “I view the role of Co-Chair as an opportunity to expand the experience by taking on a leadership and mentoring role.”

As Co-Chair, highlights for Brigid this year include emceeing the annual Spotlight on YouthBiz Stars gala last fall and choosing nonprofits for the Young AmeriTowne Donation Station.  Her group chose the Yellow Ribbon Campaign, a suicide prevention program, and she is excited that Young AmeriTowne students will be able to donate their AmeriTowne dollars to further this cause.

Thank you, Brigid, for your commitment and leadership this year!
