This month we highlight students from George Washington High School and Boulder High School who are serving on this year’s Youth Advisory Board: Sophie Salazar and Jesus Soto.
As a sophomore, Sophie is a member of her school’s Ambassadors Team as well as several clubs and honors courses. She has participated in the Join Up! program at the Colorado History Museum, and is fluent in both Mandarin and Spanish after attending immersive programs at Denver Language School.
She has traveled extensively throughout Central America which allowed her to practice her Spanish-speaking skills, and looks forward to traveling to China in the future.
Sophie is also a private piano instructor and hopes to pursue a degree in business after high school.
Jesus is a senior and Founder/Executive Director of UpTrack which helps students discover their dream career through hands-on activities. He is also the Chapter President of the Young Investors Society and Vice President of DECA at Boulder High School.
As an avid reader, Jesus seeks out books and articles to help improve his leadership skills and knowledge about finances and investing, and he enjoys sharing insights with other teens about the stock market and creating a path toward financial freedom.
Both of these students have a passion for helping others in their communities – a quality that makes them valuable contributors to the Youth Advisory Board and in their respective schools. We wish them well in all of their future endeavors.
