Sponsor Spotlight: The Joke of the Day in AmeriTowne’s Colorado Public Radio Station“Imagine you are in your house.  Then, it floods destroying everything.  How do you stop it?  STOP IMAGINING!”

This joke is just one example of the dozens of jokes shared in Young AmeriTowne every day.  Students can decide to mail a Joke of the Day postcard to the Radio Station, and the best joke, as decided by the Radio Station employees, wins a prize.  The very best jokes end up in the Radio Station Hall of Fame for others to view throughout the year!

Besides providing entertainment to citizens, teachers, and staff members, the Joke of the Day contest also engages citizens by encouraging them to actively participate in content.  This models the shop’s sponsor, Colorado Public Radio, whose mission is to “enrich the Colorado community by providing news, information and music for people who want to be informed, enlightened and entertained.”  CPR News offers a “Public Insight Network” where listeners can share work, education, life experience and hobbies that may help inform the news.  A recent “Colorado Matters” segment, live at the University of Denver’s Newman Center, answered audience questions about journalism ethics.  CPR OpenAir listeners can even make song requests online.Sponsor Spotlight: The Joke of the Day in AmeriTowne’s Colorado Public Radio Station
