Young Americans Center for Financial Education’s Send-a-School project exists to ensure that all students from all schools in Colorado, regardless of socio-economic background, can attend Young AmeriTowne or International Towne.  No school is ever turned away due to an inability to pay, and this is all because of the budget set in place by the Send-a-School program.  Wells Fargo has been a sponsor of Send-a-School for the past 11 years, specifically helping Aurora Public Schools and schools in Colorado Springs attend AmeriTowne.

Last year, 226 students gained a hands-on lesson in financial education at AmeriTowne On the Road in Colorado Springs.  Send-a-School supporter Wells Fargo provided scholarships that enabled low-income students to participate.

Colorado Springs schools had a very successful pilot program last year with 226 students participating from four schools.  Returning to Colorado’s fastest growing market for a second year in March, AmeriTowne is expected to more than double that reach to 516 students from 12 Colorado Springs schools.  Aurora Public Schools (APS) are going into their fourth year of participating in the AmeriTowne On the Road program with a commitment to having every APS school participate in this real-world, hands-on financial education program.

Many of these students could not participate if it weren’t for the scholarships provided by Send-a-School.  That’s why Wells Fargo has committed to this CRA-eligible initiative for over a decade.  According to Kelly Donovan, Vice President, Community Affairs at Wells Fargo: “Wells Fargo is proud to partner with Young Americans Center to help make the Send-a-School program possible.  We know the importance of teaching financial health at an early age and the impact it can make on the youth who participate in the program.”

The type of participant growth seen in both Colorado Springs and Aurora could not exist without foundations like Wells Fargo that show their commitment to youth and to community through supporting programs like this.  Thank you, Wells Fargo, for helping bring the gift of a healthy and successful financial future to the students of Aurora and Colorado Springs!
