This month we highlight four terrific students finishing up their year of service on the Youth Advisory Board: Jonathan Duong, Maggie Turner, Trace Taylor, and Matthew Layden.

Youth Advisory Board Members Jonathan Duong, Maggie Turner, Trace Taylor and Matthew LaydenJonathan is a freshman at Rock Canyon High School. He plays cello in school as well as with the Douglas County Youth Orchestra. He was a District Winner in Battle of the Books and he also swims competitively. Outside of school, Jonathan does active trading with his own investment accounts and hopes to add some cryptocurrency assets to his portfolio.

Maggie is finishing her junior year at St. Mary’s Academy. She excels on the volleyball court (both school and club) as well as in the classroom. She particularly enjoys math, physics and economics. Outside of school, she serves on the youth advisory board for the HIP ME Project and regularly volunteers with Clothes to Kids Denver. As a middle schooler, Maggie planned to become a Supreme Court Justice. She has since shifted her aspirations to a career in Finance.

Trace is a freshman at Mullen High School. He enjoys playing basketball, baseball, soccer, and tennis. Naturally inquisitive, Trace also likes to challenge himself academically. He tackled Honors Biology, English and Algebra this school year. Outside of school, he enjoys traveling in the U.S. and abroad, and volunteering at Food Bank of the Rockies during the holidays.

Matthew, a sophomore at Regis Jesuit High School, is a midfielder on the JV Soccer Team, and was thrilled to attend a Youth World Soccer Event in Spain last summer. Fluent in Spanish, Matthew enjoys working as a camp counselor with refugees at the Village Exchange Center and volunteering at the annual MotherWise Christmas event to help Spanish-speaking families find Christmas gifts. Matthew has been a go-getter from a young age. He ran his own business from ages 7-13, won the Business Pitch Competition at McAuliffe International School, and has participated in several YouthBiz Marketplaces.

Each of these students has made valuable contributions of their time and knowledge to this year’s board. They are, no doubt, bound for great things.
