Young Americans Center for Financial Education believes that entrepreneurship is a key to a successful future. Through the study and practice of entrepreneurship, young people learn skills that will help them succeed in school and in life as they learn how to solve problems and create opportunities.

A valuable partner in this work is Amica Companies Foundation which has supported the YouthBiz program of Young Americans Center with both financial support and volunteer time since 2016. One of the goals of Amica Companies Foundation is to help individuals, families and communities become economically independent and strong, and by supporting YouthBiz, the Foundation does just that.

In 2018, 1,434 young people participated in YouthBiz programs that allowed them to explore entrepreneurship in a hands-on way. For example, after explaining her business idea to a panel of judges, a YouthBiz StartUp participant writes, “”I liked presenting my ideas. YouthBiz will help me use my mind to pursue my ideas.” A second student writes, “I learned to be confident and be brave.”

By exposing young people to the possibility of entrepreneurship, Amica Companies Foundation is empowering a generation of youth to think creatively, to solve problems, and to advocate for their ideas. Thank you, Amica Companies Foundation, for your continued support of this learning!

Lauryn is just 12 years old, and she’s already been in business for three years. “Or maybe four? I can’t even remember!” giggles Lauryn from behind a collection of tiny and adorable potted plants and a sign that reads, “Lauryn’s Chicks.” A few years ago, Lauryn’s mother was gifted a collection of 35 hens and chicks which she planted in their garden. Lauryn now sells the descendants of that gift at Marketplaces like the one held at Rocky Mountain Hospital for Children on February 13.

Mayor Kevin led AmeriTowne when his school, Arrowhead Elementary, participated last month.  In order to become Mayor, …
