April is Financial Literacy Month!

To celebrate, Vectra Bank is teaming up with Young Americans Center for Financial Education to provide complimentary financial education for your child.  Each of these offerings will be taught by the Center’s program staff, who are leaders in youth financial education.  Take a look and make plans to join us!

All month, On Demand, All Ages.

Free, fast-paced and interactive classes cover a variety of personal finance topics.

Classes are offered via Google Classrooms.  Gmail account is needed.

Two Customized Classes on Saturday, April 17, 2021

Coin Detective In-Person Workshop (K, 1st and 2nd Grade)

9:00am – 10:00am (8:45am arrival)

Kindergarten, first and second graders (ages 5-8) will learn all about coins with a story and interactive activities.  This free, in-person workshop takes place on the second floor of Young Americans Center for Financial Education, 3550 E. First Ave. Denver, CO 80206.  An adult (parent/grandparent/guardian) must accompany their child.  All materials are provided.  Limit 15 students.

YouthBiz Virtual Workshop (youth ages 8-14)

10:00am – 11:00am

Come up with the next BIG IDEA!  Youth ages 8-14 participate in this Business Idea Generation workshop, which will guide students through the process of creating a business.  Depending on demand, this free workshop will be offered through a live or asynchronous session.  Link to join and other details will be provided after registration.  Limit 20 students.

Savings Workshops for All Ages on Saturday, April 24

Savings Game Virtual Workshop (3rd – 5th Grade)

10:00am – 11:00am

Students in grades 3-5 will learn about the importance of saving money, will understand how a bank can help them reach their savings goals, and will explore how a budget can help them save for unexpected expenses in this free virtual workshop.  At the end of the session, students will play the Savings Game.  Limit 18 students.

Savings Smarts Virtual Workshop (6th – 8th Grade)

10:00am – 11:00am

Students in grades 6-8 will learn about the importance of saving money, will create a personal savings goal and a realistic savings plan, and will calculate how long it will take to become a millionaire in this free virtual workshop.  Limit 18 students.

Balancing Wants In the Real World Virtual Workshop (High School)

10:00am – 11:00am

Students in grades 9-12 will explain the role of saving as part of a financial plan, will estimate real world costs for an adult, and will describe the steps to create a financial plan in this free virtual workshop.  Limit 18 students.

Registration Information

Enroll on the Center’s Registration Site and set up a profile for each child.  Then, follow these steps to unlock the Vectra Bank Financial Literacy Month classes from the Parent Dashboard:

  1. Select the Participant
  2. Click on Enrollment (left-hand side)
  3. Scroll down to yellow highlighted section
  4. Use “Vectra Bank” for your promotion code.
