After a 2 year hiatus, Young AmeriTowne On the Road returned to Pueblo last week bringing financial literacy education to eager 4th and 5th graders.
AmeriTowne On the Road mirrors the Denver-based program, but it caters to smaller classes in remote communities. AmeriTowne On the Road served 200+ Pueblo-area students at Pueblo Community College February 7 -11.
Local presenting sponsor Legacy Bank played a large role in bringing the program to the Pueblo community. Legacy offsets program fees for students who study a 6-8 week curriculum at school prior to their interactive “day in Towne” experience. Every student receives a workbook, a debit card, and a checkbook.
“AmeriTowne On the Road is an educational jewel for our region,” says Andrew Trainor Regional President for Legacy Bank and Young Americans Center for Financial Education partner. “Being able to sponsor such a memorable event for local children that also fosters great financial literacy is a small way we can do our part to support families and educators in Pueblo County. AmeriTowne teaches financial education, but it also teaches community.”
Pueblo Chieftan reporter James Bartolo spent a day in Towne with students, teachers, and parent volunteers from Desert Sage Elementary School and perfectly captured the excitement and importance of the day here.
Thank you, Legacy Bank, for your dedication to ensuring all students in Colorado are given adequate and equitable access to a financial education.
