In its most recent Colorado Talent Pipeline Report, the Colorado Workforce Development Council (CWDC) offers a collection of strategies, investments, and policy recommendations in response to the impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic. Chief among them are a call for reskilling and upskilling the workforce in order to facilitate an equitable economic recovery. To meet emerging shifts in employer demand, the CDWC specifically calls out the need to develop digital literacy skills, agile thinking and lifelong learning skills.
Comcast through its partnership with YouthBiz, a program of Young Americans Center for Financial Education, is dedicated to helping Colorado students, particularly those from disadvantaged backgrounds, acquire essential digital literacy skills. This support specifically includes helping students with website development, app coding, digital marketing and information/data analysis. The know-how students develop to use technology will help them thrive in the future workforce.
Comcast has a longstanding commitment to advancing digital equity, closing the digital divide, and addressing both digital literacy and the homework gap. Through its support of YouthBiz, the organization is accomplishing these goals by helping underrepresented populations create financially viable new venture opportunities by removing the largest barriers of education and access to mentors and networks.
