Question: Tell me a little bit about you – name, age, how long you’ve been an entrepreneur?
Answer: My name is Delaney Ryan, I’m 14 years old, and I am now a freshman at Arapahoe high school. I have been an entrepreneur for just over eight months now.
Q: Do you have a website? If so, let us know what it is.

Q: What motivated or inspired you to start a business?
A: At my middle school, Aspen Academy, our 8thgrade project was to write a business plan. I took it one step further and actually started a business.
Q: Please share an overview of your business.
A: Laney’s Lipcare is an all-natural, handmade lip balm and lip tint company supporting the Skin Cancer Foundation. Our lip balm moisturizes your lips without leaving a color. Our lip tints however, have the same base as the lip balms but also have a light pigment. 10% of our net profits to the Skin Cancer Foundation.
Q: Tell us about some of the challenges you face being a young business owner.
A: I face challenges as a young entrepreneur such as people trusting my product. Another struggle is adults not thinking my business is legitimate or a real business.
Q: What’s the best part about having your own business?
A: The best part about having my own business is knowing I’m making a difference with my company and also having work you can be proud of.
Q: Why should other youth start a business?
A: I believe other youth should start a business because it teaches so many valuable lessons. It will also help you later in life because you have experience running a business. If your company is successful you will be self-reliant and may not have to get a job in high school.
Q: Do you have special products or sales in mind for the Denver Startup Week Youth Pass Marketplace and Expo?
A: I will have my three lip balm flavors; honey, vanilla, and strawberry and three lip tint colors; rose, coral, and peach.
Q: What is your involvement with Young Americans Center?
A: I am a finalist for the YouthBiz Stars Business Competition and I will be attending the Denver Startup Week Youth Pass Marketplace and Expo.
