Young Americans Center for Financial Education is proud to announce the winner of the 2017 Spotlight on YouthBiz Stars 12-15 Age Category: Lily’s Little Buddies, owned by siblings Lily (age 14) and Noal (age 12) Blessing!
Lily and Noal prove that anyone can be an entrepreneur—you just need drive and creativity.
Lily started making pocket-sized dolls to provide comfort and support during her and Noal’s doctor visits and hospital stays. She had always given them away to friends, but was motivated to start selling them so that she could purchase a racing wheelchair for Noal. Using donated materials, she set a goal of making five dolls a week, including fairies, princesses and dolls with special needs, so that she could make $4,000.
She reached her goal in less than a year, and Noal, who is responsible for packaging, marketing and sales, is looking forward to racing in his new wheelchair next spring.
With the help of mentor Matthew Burkett, Lily and Noal hope to grow Lily’s Little Buddies by building a website and by expanding into additional retail stores. They will use these profits to help purchase a dance wheelchair for Noal and to start fulfilling the dreams of other young people.
