The third presenting mentor for our 2022 Spotlight on YouthBiz Stars business competition is Leigh Sullivan, Development Director for Pepper’s Senior Dog Sanctuary.
Pepper’s Senior Dog Sanctuary is a 501c3 dedicated to pulling old & sick dogs out of shelters and rescue organizations, and bringing them to their vet-supervised dog sanctuary where they can live out their good, bad and last days in a homelike environment.
Sullivan is a third generation Coloradoan, the founder of the culinary supergroup, FIVE, a wife, and a mother of three children, and five dogs. A three-decade veteran of the hospitality industry, she is a widely-respected marketing and communications strategist, and is innovative in her efforts to support both the Colorado culinary world and charitable causes.
She’s been recognized for her invaluable service to the LGBTQ community and she is on the Board of Firefly Autism, a charity that is near and dear to her heart. A life-long animal lover who was always bringing home stray dogs, she was dismayed to learn that she could indeed NOT have as many dogs as she’d like when she became an adult, as Denver has a three-dog limit in the city (which is exactly why she packed up in 2021 and moved to the country)! She looks forward to cuddling as many dogs as her heart desires when Pepper’s is fully stocked with pups living their best lives.
For Sullivan, being a mentor means paying forward the partnerships she’s had in her life while helping a young person build a network of support.
Sullivan will work with 11-year old Nicholas Gray, winner of the 2022 Spotlight on YouthBiz Stars business competition and owner of Slime Kings, to refine and grow his business over the next 12 months.
