What do youth documentaries, Colorado rivers and homeless pets all have in common?
These causes were all supported by Young AmeriTowne students as they learned about philanthropy and giving back to their community.
Schlessman Family Foundation Philanthropy Check Presentation
Each year, the Center’s Youth Advisory Board selects a total of 12 nonprofit organizations for students to learn about. During their day in Towne, each student has the opportunity to select an organization (or two) that they want to contribute to with their “AmeriTowne dollars” at the Donation Station in the center of Towne Square.
The Schlessman Family Foundation and Community First Foundation generously match each of these donations with “real” dollars at a 10% rate.
At our Denver location, this past year Schlessman Family Foundation’s matching gift supported the Susan M. Duncan Family YMCA, Denver Dumb Friends League, Colorado Business Committee for the Arts, Denver Public Schools Foundation, One Tree Planted and Judi’s House.
Community First Foundation Philanthropy Check Presentation
At our Lakewood location, Community First Foundation underwrote the students’ donations to the Youth Documentary Academy, The Initiative – Abuse Free Culture for All, RISE Colorado, Doctors Care, National Sports Center for the Disabled, and Colorado Water Trust.
We were thrilled to have Gloria Price and Noah Attencio join us in presenting the checks to each of the organizations who were all surprised and touched by the Donation Station projects.
