Spotlight on YouthBiz Stars applications are now available online! This annual business competition honors the best young entrepreneurs in Colorado with cash prizes, up to $5,000, and a year-long mentorship with a Colorado business leader. After reading through hundreds of applications over the years, we’re bringing you are our five tips for creating a standout application.
Tip #1 – Tell your unique story
What do you do better than anyone else? What is unique about how your business began? Tell the judges about it in a compelling way.
Tip #2 – Be honest
Don’t embellish the truth, but don’t be afraid to brag a bit and highlight your greatest accomplishment as a youth business owner.
Tip #3 – Explain how you’ve grown
If you’ve made a big mistake and learned from that, explain the changes you’ve made. Or, demonstrate how knowledge and experience has helped your business grow.
Tip #4 – Include visuals
Image and videos help the judges actually see the quality of your products or the services you provide. Here’s some great tips for taking quality photos with your smart phone.
