Young Americans Center was thrilled to be the beneficiary of the 2015 Rolling Hills Golf Classic, an annual event held by The Foundation at Rolling Hills. Rolling Hills Members, corporate sponsors, and guests filled the club house and greens for the Gala on Saturday, June 27 and the Tournament on Monday, June 29.
The theme for this year’s Golf Classic and Gala was Monopoly, in honor of the game’s 80th anniversary and Young Americans Center’s commitment to develop the financial literacy of young people through hands-on learning. At the Gala, guests could use Monopoly Money to purchase live auction items and mystery boxes, containing a variety of gifts from restaurant gift cards to autographed baseballs. A highlight of the event every year is the ball drop, which excited guests watch from the balcony to see if their golf ball made it into the hole when dropped from a backhoe above. Guests enjoyed tastings by top-notch metro area restaurants and distilleries, and they danced the night away, pool-side.
The following Monday, 220 golfers gathered under sunny skies to play a round to benefit Young Americans Center. The 18-hole Rolling Hills golf course was a bit of a challenge for some; for example the 280+ yard pro-drive on Hole #9 plagued quite a few golfers. In fitting with the Monopoly theme, struggling golfers could purchase a “Get Out of Jail Free” mulligan package to help them conquer the course. And conquer they did! Ms. Darden Colts aced Hole #17, earning bragging rights, a place in The Club at Rolling Hills history books and a $10,000 prize.
Young Americans Center owes a great deal of thanks to a great number of people who helped make this event a success. First, a big thanks to the incredible staff at The Club at Rolling Hills and Young Americans Center who worked tirelessly to set up, tear down and assist Gala and Tournament guests. Thank you to our sponsors, including Out of the Box and CoBank, for their generous support of the event. Thank you to the guests and golfers, including Rolling Hills Members, whose excitement and graciousness made the event meaningful. And finally, thank you to The Foundation at Rolling Hills for choosing Young Americans Center as the beneficiary of this event.
