Young Americans Center for Financial Education proudly introduces you to another distinguished mentor for this year’s Spotlight on YouthBiz Stars business competition, Bahman Shafa.
Bahman has always had a passion for entrepreneurship. He started his first business in high school when he decided to re-create his favorite chocolate ice cream topping. After graduating from DU with a business degree, Bahman jumped right into real estate, starting a number of successful companies before losing everything in the recession of 1986.
Looking back, this failure laid the groundwork for Mr. Shafa’s current success. He bounced back from the recession and sold sports jerseys from a 16th Street Mall pushcart. “My best advice is to look at failure as an opportunity to grow,” says Bahman. “Be always ready to learn.”
Today, as President of Focus Property Group, Bahman manages retail stores, GreenBox Self Storage facilities, real estate investments, and the Enterprise Coworking Space in Five Points. The most rewarding aspect of his business is building and empowering the teams with which he works, and he eagerly shares his experience with up-and-coming youth. Prior to his current role of mentor for Spotlight on YouthBiz Stars, Bahman served on the YouthBiz Board of Directors and on the Minds Matter Board of Directors. As a mentor, Bahman is looking forward to understanding the “hopes, dreams, and goals of a young person to help him or her increase success.”
Mr. Shafa’s mentee, a winner of the Spotlight on YouthBiz Stars business competition, will be announced at the gala and awards ceremony on October 4, 2018. Limited tickets and table sponsorships are still available.
