Last week was National Entrepreneurship Week! YouthBiz took the opportunity to celebrate our youth entrepreneurs as well as learn a little bit more about what entrepreneurship is through our Fun Fact Monday post, Get to know an entrepreneur Facebook and Twitter post on Thursday, and mystery question on Saturday. We also had two amazing workshops: Sew Little Sewing and Prep A Pitch. Participants learned how to make stitch patterns, how to use stitch witchery, and created a coin purse! Through the Prep A Pitch workshop, they learned how to give a proper handshake and created a business pitch or a personal pitch. Participants had a chance to show off their handshake and pitch skills to youth entrepreneur judges, Nyla Higgs, co-owner of Aaahh2J’s Lemonade, and Isabelle May, Owner of Charming Wine Charms. The winner, Sophia, received a gift card to Target!

As a way to highlight our youth entrepreneurs and know what they’re doing, we had a few of them send us their business profile to be posted on a blog. Here they are:

Author MJ Logan

Hi everyone!  My name is M.J. Logan. I’m a high school student in Aurora and an author. I published the second book in my trilogy last month called The Camp Signal. These books are mystery novels for middle school kids. What I’m loving the most right now is hearing from kids about how much they love my books and from parents about how they can’t get their kids to put them down! You can learn more and purchase your copy at www.AuthorMJ.com or on Amazon.

Promesse-and-Denise1_croppedPop It

Hello, My name is Promesse, owner of Pop It. I make uniquely flavored popcorn that you don’t see in stores or theaters. What makes my popcorn unique are the seasonings I use, like Oreo, which I call dirt popcorn, M&Ms, Pretzels, and so much more! I started my business in 2015, when I was 13 years old through a Youthbiz class. For orders contact me through my Facebook page Pop It. Thank you!
