Young Americans relies on the leadership and expertise of two Board of Directors that provide oversight and strategic planning for both Young Americans Bank and Center for Financial Education. This month, we are proud to introduce a member of the Young Americans Bank Board of Directors, Scott Simon.
Simon brings 26 years of professional investment management experience to the Board. Since 2007, Simon has served as Chief Investment Officer for the Fire and Police Pension Association of Colorado (FPPA) with the primary responsibility for the overall design and implementation of the Association’s investment strategy. FPPA’s $6.0 billion in defined benefit and defined contribution plans are diversified across all major asset classes including domestic and international equity, fixed income, real estate, hedge funds, and private equity.
Prior to joining FPPA, Simon worked at University of Colorado Foundation, focusing on alternative investments. He also spent time at CenturyLink Asset Management as a portfolio manager and at Denver Employees Retirement Plan as an investment analyst.
Simon joined the Young Americans Board ten years ago and he currently serves as Chair of the Investment Committee for Young Americans Bank. According to Simon, serving on the Board allows him to support youth financial literacy in a meaningful way. “Having been involved in the financial services industry for more than two decades, I have seen the impact of financial education first-hand,” says Simon. “When children develop healthy financial habits at a young age, they have years to practice and perfect these skills before adulthood. That’s why I’m thrilled to serve on the Board of Young Americans Bank which provides this learning on a daily basis.”
