Teachers, like healthcare workers and civic servants, are at the forefront of the COVID-19 crisis. They are scrambling to quickly retool their education programs to meet the needs of students whose families face untold health and economic situations.
Young Americans Center for Financial Education (Center) is there with them every step of the way, providing quality, standards-aligned programs–like Young AmeriTowne (29 years), International Towne (22 years) and YouthBiz (28 years) –that have never been more important.
The issue is these programs currently aren’t accessible online. Your help is urgently needed now to help teachers by bringing the lessons online and into the homes of Colorado’s students.
Your donation will help Christy, a 5th grade teacher who works in a low-income school in the Adams 12 Five Star School District. Christy’s classroom has been in anticipation for their day running Towne on May 5th, a day now cancelled due to COVID-19. Christy knows the outcomes of the program and the benefits for students – improved financial literacy, gains in careerism, and strengthened business mindset and decision-making skills. Christy has asked a Center program staff member to co-facilitate teaching online. Of course, we are here to help, but due to extensive revenue loss from no visiting classes, we desperately need your financial support to make her request a reality.
Your gift today will help ensure two things:
- Christy and other teachers throughout Colorado can continue to teach the Center’s programs’ curriculum, and
- Students don’t experience the education decline so many parents fear will happen!
Working together, we can continue the mission of the Center in ways we could not have imagined, helping the teachers and students that are in dire need.
