Coloradoans Treasure Gardens and Open spaces

Planters at Young AmeriTowne

Coloradoans love their green and open spaces, and they’ll be flocking to the annual Colorado Garden & Home Show starting this weekend February 4 – 12, at the Colorado Convention Center to stroll through 11 fully landscaped gardens and prepare for the spring garden season.

Young AmeriTowne citizens love their Towne Square, too, and keep it green and growing thanks to a grant from the Colorado Garden Foundation, which produces the Colorado Garden & Home Show and sponsors Towne Square in Young AmeriTowne (as well as grants and scholarships in horticulture statewide).

The Colorado Garden Foundation installed enormous planters on Towne Square at Young AmeriTowne, and keeps them stocked with green and flowering plants all year. It’s the responsibility of the Young AmeriTowne student Parks and Recreation/Community Relations Director for each school to water and maintain the planters, as well as coordinate the Donation Station and daily customer service competition.

“This is a job for a student who’s a leader and outgoing,” says Towne Director Susan Stenhaug,  “teachers often place a student who ran for public office for this position – an employee of Towne Hall.”Sponsor Spotlight – Colorado Garden Foundation
